 Along the Silver City Highway this rest area viewing area is a great stop to view the expansive countryside from an elevation.There is an information board with some history and facts about the area and the view is one certainly not to be missed. Meadow Glen Rest Area

 Meadow Glen Rest area is located at Cubba on The Barrier Hwy 63 kilometers west of Cobar and 197 kilometers east of Wilcannia. Drivers wishing to take a break from dodging the hundreds of goats along the edge of this highway will find this stop ideal. This rest area has space to overnight out of the way well back from the highway. There are toilets and bins provided. Grey Gum Cafe Putty

 The Grey Gum Cafe Putty is one of the only rest areas on Putty Road offering toilets and showers for a small fee and free overnight camping. They do not have any garbage service due to remoteness so please take all your waste with you to dispose of responsibly elsewhere. The area is huge with plenty of spots to stop for the night, the owners offered us to park anywhere we liked. Currabubula Freedom Camp

 Currabubula Freedom Camp is a terrific spot for an overnight stop. There is a donation box and apparently toilets and showers which we did not use. There were only two other RV's the Saturday night we stopped over. Sunday morning a lot of horse floats began arriving and setting up for an equestrian event so we moved on quickly to get out of their way. There is a pub a few minutes walk down the road which we didn't have time to check out. Currabubula Freedom Camp: A Scenic Retreat in the Liverpool Plains. Jerry's Plains Camping Ground

 Jerry's Plains Camping Ground is a great spot to overnight within easy walking distance of the Robin Hood Tavern where enjoyable meals are served. This campground has a donation box, there are toilets which are utilised often by passing motorists. There is also a dump point and bins. We have stopped overnight here several times where there has been 6 or more other vans and RV's and occasionally only one other. We have seen this ground very boggy after rain but council did spread roadbase through the center area late June 2024. Located in the picturesque Hunter Valley region of New South Wales  Jerry's Plains Camping Ground offers a great stopover for travelers seeking a break along the Golden Highway. Bulga Campground

 Bulga campground is close to the first (or last depending on your direction of travel) general store and fuel station at the northern end of Putty Rd. There is also a tavern next to the general store. The campground can get busy at times and there is usually at least 2 or three campers there at any one time. The campground features a range of amenities, including flush toilets, BBQ areas, covered picnic tables, and a dump station. This ground is slightly sloping, grassed and well compacted and should be suitable for use in all weather. Nestled in the scenic Hunter Valley region of New South Wales Bulga Campground offers a peaceful maximum 48 hour stopover for travelers seeking a beak from travel either before or after Putty Road between Windsor and  Singleton. Located on Inlet Road in Bulga, this free camping spot is also perfect for a two night getaway. Beardy Waters Heritage Park

 A handy stopping area 10 kilometers north of Glen Innes is Beardy Waters Heritage Park located on the western side of New England Highway. We stopped over here right before a storm hit and were treated to a colourful sunset after the storm passed. There is a toilet as can be seen in the photo below. Located approximately 8 to 10 kilometers north of Glen Innes New South Wales Beardy Waters Heritage Park offers a tranquil escape for nature lovers and travelers alike.
