Royal Hotel Spring Ridge

Image
Royal Hotel Spring Ridge has an area at the rear for vans and RV's to park overnight. Friendly staff and a great atmosphere especially seeing how busy this area is during harvest time days before rain forecast. Spring Ridge is just under 50 klm's from Quirindi.

Tourist Hotel Sandy Hollow

Image
The Tourist Hotel at Sandy Hollow has a huge area at the rear for caravans and RV's. We checked at the bar before driving in and were invited to park out the back anywhere we liked. Meals here were great, we actually had a late lunch just before the kitchen closed and returned later for dinner. Beats cooking for ourselves! There is a little train noise in the distance but nothing to really disturb sleep during the night.

The Royal Hotel Denman

Image
Located at rear of The Royal Hotel Deman is a newly upgraded area with caravan and RV bays roadbased and turf beside each bay plus the area is fenced behind the main car park providing a private secure area. We asked at the bar before driving in and were told no problem at all just park in any of the spots behind the main car park beside the hotel. Main street of Denman is just around the corner with shops and cafe's. Distant train noise but nothing to really disturb sleep during the night.

Grey Gum Cafe Putty

Image
The Grey Gum Cafe Putty is one of the only rest areas on Putty Road offering toilets and showers for a small fee and free overnight camping. They do not have any garbage service due to remoteness so please take all your waste with you to dispose of responsibly elsewhere. The area is huge with plenty of spots to stop for the night, the owners offered us to park anywhere we liked. Please support the owners with patronage of the cafe if open and be prepared to pay the very small fee if requiring a hot shower.

Currrabubula Freedom Camp

Image
Currrabubula Freedom Camp is a terrific spot for an overnight stop. There is a donation box and apparently toilets and showers which we did not use. There were only two other RV's the Saturday night we stopped over. Sunday morning a lot of horse floats began arriving and setting up for an equestrian event so we moved on quickly to get out of their way. There is a pub a few minutes walk down the road which we didn't have time to check out.

Imperial Hotel Quirindi

Image
Imperial Hotel Quirindi is a terrific stop, we stayed two nights. We checked before driving in and were invited to setup out the back where there were already two other vans. Food was great we actually had four meals while there. Only a short walk to the main street and to view the silo light show. We walked to checkout Bobs Shed which is roughly 30 minutes walk just be aware the last section up Ray Carter Dr is steep and the lookout at the top is well worth checking out for the view. The Friday night we were there was noisy from loud music until late from the Terminus Hotel located 450 meters away. There is some train noise in the distance but nothing to really disturb sleep during the night. A great pub to stop over at with shops and IGA supermarket within walking distance.

Jerry's Plains Camping Ground

Image
Jerry's Plains Camping Ground is a great spot to overnight within easy walking distance of the Robin Hood Tavern where enjoyable meals are served. This campground has a donation box, there are toilets which are utilised often by passing motorists. There is also a dump point and bins. We have stopped overnight here several times where there has been 6 or more other vans and RV's and occasionally only one other. We have seen this ground very boggy after rain but council did spread roadbase through the center late June 2024.

Bulga Campground

Image
Bulga campground is close to the first (or last depending on your direction of travel) general store and fuel station at the northern end of Putty Rd. There is also a tavern next to the general store. The campground can get busy at times and there is usually at least 2 or three campers there at any one time. There is a dump point and toilets, some shelters with seats and bbq area. This ground is slightly sloping,  grassed and well compacted and should be suitable for use in all weather.

Beardy Waters Heritage Park

Image
A handy stopping area 10 kilometers north of Glen Innes Beardy Waters Heritage Park located on the western side of New England Highway. We stopped over here right before a storm hit and were treated to a colourful sunset after the storm passed. There is a toilet as can be seen in the photo below.
