Stamford Plaza Sydney Airport

Arriving back into Sydney late on a long weekend Monday evening we realised our plan to catch a train home involved all stops and the train did not actually go all the way to our closest final station meaning we would have to supplement trains with taxi. Quickly checking expedia and then the hotel site direct we noticed Stamford Plaza had room only available for around $135.00, we have stayed at the Stamford Plaza previously and always found it to be good so we booked a room for the night.

The Stamford is well constructed with masonry walls and double glazed windows and is usually very quiet but early the next morning cleaners in adjacent rooms were very noisy banging and using vacuum cleaners etc, luckily we were up and planning to leave early anyway. As in the past it is close to the same distance and much cheaper to walk to Mascot station rather than back to the Sydney Airport domestic terminal station which is what we did. Even after peak hour this was one of the oldest trains still in use on the Sydney network and it was packed. We have experienced these packed older trains on this line many times in the past, not much of a first impression for visitors to Sydney especially considering the excessive surcharge travellers are forced to pay from the two airport train stations.

If the Stamford Plaza at Mascot is within your price range it is a good pick and an easy walk to the domestic terminals T2 and T3
